Our view of the service

Launceston Close Surgery is a GP practice which provides a range of primary medical services from its location at 9-10 Launceston Close, Winsford, Cheshire. The provider is registered with the Care Quality Commission under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 to provide the following regulated activities: diagnostic and screening procedures, family planning, maternity and midwifery services, surgical procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. This assessment of the well-led key question was carried out on 3 & 4 September 2024 in response to information of concern received by CQC. We looked at some of the themes highlighted in the information that was shared with us and we asked the provider to also carry out their own enquiries and report back to us with their findings. The provider shared an action plan with us detailing the improvements they intended to make in response to our enquiries and findings. At that time of the assessment the service was rated as good for providing a well-led service. Following our assessment the service continues to be rated as good in this key question. As part of our assessment, we highlighted a number of areas where the provider should make improvements. These included: ensuring the systems in place for the induction and training of new staff were reviewed and developed, ensuring that improvements were made to how staff at a senior level communicated effectively across the staff team and the introduction of a formalised process for supporting/supervising members of the nursing team.

People's experience of this service

The provider encouraged and valued feedback from people who used the service. Feedback that we have reviewed, showed that overall patient experience of the service is positive. The results of the national GP patient survey were in line with or higher than local and nation average scores for patient satisfaction. The results showed that patients generally felt positive about their overall experience of the service; patients felt listened to, treated with care and concern, were involved in decisions about their care and treatment, and had confidence and trust in the healthcare professionals involved. The service received low numbers of written complaints and both verbal and written complaints were investigated, responded to and used to drive improvement. Patients were given the opportunity to provide feedback to CQC via a link on the provider’s website. No feedback was received through this means.
