People were treated with kindness and respect. The staff knew people well and were polite, kind and supportive. People were able to make choices and take part in a range of social activities. Staff supported people to be independent. The registered manager ensured staff were well treated and cared for. We did not assess all the quality statements within this key question. We did not identify concerns relating to these areas which we judged as being met at our last inspection.

Kindness, compassion and dignity

People told us they were well treated. Their comments included, ''Staff are very good at seeing to us'', ''They are very kind like a family'' and ''They are all very nice, caring staff.''

Staff knew people well and spoke about them respectfully.

An external professional told us they were a regular visitor to the home. They said that people were always happy and well cared for. They commented, ''Staff are friendly, loving, caring and approachable.''

We saw staff being kind, supportive and gentle with people. They were polite and offered people choices. They allowed people to take their time and treated people as individuals.

Independence, choice and control

People had opportunities to participate in a range of social events. These included organised group and individual activities. People spent time in the garden and were supported to have trips out. Their comments included, ''I join in and have a bit of fun'' and ''There is always music and exercise.''

Staff explained how they supported people to be independent when they were able. They told us some people liked to help with gardening.

Throughout our visit, staff were attentive and supported people to make choices. There were games, painting activities, opportunities to watch a film and spend time in the garden. People were given choices and we saw staff respected these. People were offered choices about what they ate, drank and where they spent their time.

Staff told us they felt well supported and enjoyed working at the service.

The registered manager worked alongside staff. They knew the staff well and explained how they offered individual support when staff had a specific need.
