During an inspection in response to concerns
Staff recruitment records reviewed showed inadequate checks on staff before being employed. Staff were not supported through supervision or appraisals. Mandatory yearly training was not always completed. The service did not have the capacity to meet the needs of all the people that were registered with the service and was taken action to try and improve this.
We saw there were gaps in the quality and monitoring arrangements and that records were not to an adequate standard. For example care plans were not reviewed and so care was not planned in a way that ensured peoples safety and welfare.
We spoke with the person managing the service on the day of our inspection. Throughout this report, we have referred to this person as the acting manager. The location did not have a registered manager at the time of our inspection which is a requirement for registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
