During an inspection looking at part of the service
During our inspection visit we spoke with four patients about their experiences of being looked after in hospital. We also spoke to one visiting relative.
Two of the patients that we spoke with were able to tell us that they were involved in decisions about the care and treatment that they received . They told us that hospital staff explained why they were having tests and the reason they were taking medicines and told them about their rights. They said that hospital staff treated them with respect, were polite and promoted their privacy. All the patients we spoke with told us that there were social activities arranged that they could join in and that they could make choices about a range of things including menus and times of getting up and going to bed .They said that they were offered help by staff but they were encouraged to be as independent as possible. They said that they were weighed regularly to ensure that they were eating properly.

During a routine inspection
People who were able to express their views told us that the staff, food and accommodation were good and that they felt safe. Some people told us that there was not a lot to do.
