During a routine inspection
We found that people's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan.
People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. Most people did not have concerns around their safety. One person told us: "I think more staff should be in the garden as it would make me feel more safe. Another person who commented in a recent inpatient discharge survey was recorded as saying: "Have more nurses around the lounges for protection of other patients."
Staff had received regular training, supervision sessions and an annual appraisal. This showed us that suitable arrangements were in place to train and support staff in caring and supporting people cared for on The Lakes Mental Health Wards.
There was an effective complaints system available. Comments and complaints people made were responded to appropriately.
