Caring
People were were in control of their care and support and empowered to make choices. Care plans were person centred and demonstrated the involvement of people, reflecting their choices and needs.

Independence, choice and control
Care plans were person centred and demonstrated the involvement of people making choices. These were regularly reviewed and updated as people's needs changed. Key workers regularly met with people to discuss their care needs and wishes.
Staff understood person centred care and were able to explain how they ensured people were given choice and control in their lives. Staff spoke positively about people and gave examples of person-centred care. For example, one staff member told us how they were encouraging a person to be as independent as possible. "We give the person some time to think things through, then go back and try again. You can't rush people it's their home, their life. We are people fleeting in and out of their home”. Staff supported people to actively contribute to household tasks and shopping. One staff member shared how they supported a person with specific time every week with laundry and shopping in their community.
People told us their care and support plans were developed with them and they were consulted about any changes. People told us they were supported make choices and decisions about the support they received, and this was regularly reviewed. Peoples comments included, "A supervisor comes out regularly to make sure things are as they should be”. Another said, "I'm the person in control”.
