Caring
People had the opportunity to try new experiences, develop new skills and gain independence. Care was personalised and staff worked to deliver person-centred care which maintained people’s dignity with understanding. There were systems and process to ensure people’s care plans were inclusive of people’s choice, preference and information important to them.

Independence, choice and control
There were systems and process to ensure people’s care plans were inclusive of people’s choice, preference and information important to them. Further ongoing processes assured care plans were regularly reviewed and updated in line with people’s changing care and support needs.
Staff encouraged people to remain as independent as possible. For example, a person had successfully been supported to become a steward at local social events in Bideford.
Throughout our visit, people were proactively encouraged by staff to make choices and be in control of their own lives. Staff knew when people needed their space and privacy and respected this.
