Our view of the service
Date of assessment 9 July 2024 to 16 August 2024. South Collingham Hall is a ‘care home’ providing personal care and support to older people, people living with a mental health condition and people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 15 people with their personal care needs. South Collingham Hall was last rated Good (published 31 October 2017). The report was published following CQC’s old inspection approach using key lines of enquiry (KLOEs), prompts and ratings characteristics. This assessment has been completed following the Care Quality Commission (CQC) new approach to assessment; Single Assessment Framework (SAF). We carried out our on-site assessment on 9 July 2024. This was an unannounced assessment, which means the provider was not told an assessment was going to be starting beforehand. We assessed a total of 19 quality statements from the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions and found some areas of concern. Though the assessment of these 19 quality statements indicated some areas of concern since the last inspection, our overall rating remains good. This assessment did not cover all parts of our Single Assessment Framework; therefore, we have only updated scores and ratings for those areas which we have assessed. We will carry out future assessments to cover other parts of the Framework and will update our website with our findings.
People's experience of this service
People told us they felt safe living at South Collingham Hall. People and their relatives said, without exception staff were kind and caring in their approach. People told us, they felt staff supported them safely to access healthcare professionals to maintain their health. People appeared happy and relaxed in the company of all staff. During our assessment people looked well cared for and relatives we spoke with supported our observations. People told us they would like staff to support them with social activities. Relatives we spoke with told us this was an area of improvement for the service. Staff recognised this and they told us work was underway to develop the activities on offer at South Collingham Hall.
