Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff were aware of people who were at risk of potential discrimination and ensured appropriate support was in place for them. People said they were treated with respect and their preferences were always considered. People told us they were supported to have their religious beliefs met and had been enabled to have access to counselling sessions.
Staff completed equality and diversity training and observations confirmed staff respected people. Staff were encouraging of people to make their own choices and decisions and supported and respected these, even if they were unwise.
The service understood the diverse health and care needs of people. They aimed to provide care, which was joined-up, flexible and supported choice and continuity. They worked well with partners and one visiting health professional said, “They follow our instructions well and the communication diary works well.”
