Our view of the service

Date of assessment 13 to 27 June 2024. We carried out our on-site visits on 13 and 20 June 2024. This assessment was prompted by a concern received in relation to the provider managing risk. This was an unannounced assessment, which means the provider was not given prior notice before the assessment started. During this assessment we looked at 1 quality statement in the key question of safe; Involving people to manage risks. The scores for other quality statements have been taken in line with findings from the last inspection where the service was rated good. St Annes Nursing Home is a care home registered to provide personal and nursing care for up to 58 people. The service provides support to older people, some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of our assessment visit there were 34 people living at the home. St Annes Nursing Home was last rated Good (published 21 July 2023). The report was published following Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) old inspection approach using key lines of enquiry (KLOEs), prompts and ratings characteristics. This assessment has been completed following the CQC’s new approach to assessment; Single Assessment Framework (SAF). During the assessment site visits we did not find any evidence of concern, there were effective processes in place to recognise, assess and manage risk, this includes risk related to falls, choking, dehydration and skin integrity. The provider worked effectively in partnership with other health professionals & worked proactively to reduce risk related to people’s health and medical conditions. People living at the service were happy with the care they received. Relatives told us they were included in the planning and reviewing of the care provided for their family members & spoke highly of the registered manager, staff team and the service. Staff received the relevant training to enable them to support individuals with their specific needs in relation to their health and wellbeing.
