Assessments prior to people moving into the home had been completed to identify people’s individual care needs, and staff had ensured care and support was tailored to the persons needs as required. Before the end of our assessment, the interim manager introduced a “tea with the manager” afternoon to ensure people and their relatives had an opportunity to feedback about the quality of the service.

Equity in experiences and outcomes
People and their relatives told us staff made them feel comfortable to be themselves, and they felt able to share their views. One relative said, “[Relative] is a devout Christian. The family would take them to the local church however, they said the services are too early for them but once a month the vicar comes into the home to do a service in the theatre area which [relative] enjoys and tells me it’s quite popular.”
Staff told us they received training in equality and diversity. Staff treated people with kindness and respect and told us they were proud to provide the best care they could for people living at Weymouth Manor regardless of any differences. One staff member said, “Everybody is quite supportive and not judgemental about people. I feel the home does support each person whether they have a different religion or different choices of life. People are encouraged to be comfortable to be who they are.” The interim manager told us they had started a tea with the manager afternoon once weekly to give people and their relatives a chance to share their views, wishes and wants and this had received positive feedback from people living in the home. The interim manager sent out surveys to people, relatives and staff during our assessment to gather their views. We were unable to assess the effectiveness and sustainability of this process at this inspection.
We were unable to find any quality assurance questionnaires to evidence people's views and feedback had been sought to monitor the quality of the service however, people and their relatives were given opportunities to provide feedback about the home during regular meetings and once a month during the “resident of the day”. We discussed the quality assurances questionnaire with the interim manager and after our inspection they informed us surveys had been sent out to people, relatives and staff and responses were just starting to be received. We were unable to assess the effectiveness and sustainability of this process at this assessment.
