We have served a fixed penalty notice on The Lakes Care Centre Limited at The Lakes Care Centre, Tameside, whilst providing the regulated activity, accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal Care, on 30 October 2024, for failing to comply with a condition of registration. A fine totalling £1250 has been paid.

There is no Registered Manager in place. There have been multiple changes in management since the service registered. Staff and people spoke positively overall about the provider. One staff member told us,"Management is very approachable, and I can always speak with them.”
There were governance systems and processes in place, however these had not been utilised effectively. There was no evidence of provider’s audits being completed and when any learnings had been identified there was no evidence how this has been followed up by the provider and staff. For example there was an action plan in place, but limited evidence of how the progress of the action was measured review of the impact on the quality of the care delivered to people and overall improvement of the service.

Staff told us they were working along side other agencies to drive improvement and were keen to access all support available and were responsive to feedback provided. The Provider felt strongly about making adequate improvements following the findings we have identified.
There were governance systems and processes in place, however these had not been utilised effectively. Learning opportunities were missed and when identified these have not been utilised effectively. Concerns and areas of improvement were not always identified.For example the provider failed to identify concerns in regards to people's medicines that were found during the assessment.
