During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site, announced assessment on 4 November 2024. We found the practice had met all regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. The practice is in Warwick and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. A portable ramp is available for people with a pushchair or those who use a wheelchair to gain access to the practice. Car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 2 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 1 dentist, 1 dental nurse, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with the practice manager, two dental nurses, the dentist, one receptionist and five patients. During the inspection the dentist was treating patients and spoke with us between dental sessions. Patients told us they had been happy with the service provided. One comment made by one patient was, 'I have had very good experiences; he knows what he is doing.' Patients told us they found the staff approachable and would discuss any concerns with them. We saw patient satisfaction had been monitored and the survey outcome showed patient satisfaction to be good.

There were sufficient staff available to accommodate patient's needs. Patient records confirmed their needs had been assessed, risks identified and personalised plans of care developed. We were told of joint working with dental specialists to ensure that a patient's specialist dental healthcare needs had been met.

We saw systems in place to protect people from the risk of abuse. Staff had received training in vulnerable adult protection and child protection and showed an awareness of what to do should a safeguarding event occur.
