Effective
Effective – this means we looked for evidence that people’s care, treatment and support achieved good outcomes and promoted a good quality of life, based on best available evidence. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people’s outcomes were consistently good, and people’s feedback confirmed this.
This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Assessing needs
People and their families felt involved in creating and reviewing their care plans. They confirmed staff understood people’s communication needs and could effectively communicate with people, for example if they were not able to communicate verbally.
Staff assessed and reviewed people’s health, care, wellbeing and communication needs and they included people, and/or their relatives, in the review of people’s care plans. Staff understood people’s needs.
The provider was aware that in the past, care plans were not always thorough, and they were working towards improving them. The leaders were in the process of transferring people’s care records onto an electronic care record system. They were using that process to review the information they had in place for each person and ensure the information were comprehensive and person centred.
