Caring
Caring - this means we looked for evidence the service involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. We looked at 1 quality statement. There was a lack of involvement from people and their representatives in designing and reviewing care records to support their independence, choice and control. Care plans and risk assessments did not include people’s preferences in sufficient detail. Feedback from people showed staff were kind and caring. Staff and leaders showed a good understanding of the need for gaining consent and giving people choice.

Independence, choice and control
Positive feedback was received from people whose comments included, “They never rush me, if I’m having my hair washed the call may be a bit longer, but it’s never a problem”, “They know how I like things to be done and always check I’m alright first” “They are always very respectful. I would recommend them to anyone who needs support.” A relative told us “I don’t have any concerns at the moment we are happy, I would recommend them.” One person had their call time adjusted which meant they could be supported to attend a personal event.
Staff showed a good knowledge around the need for gaining consent and giving people choice. The manager also demonstrated a good understanding around supporting people to have independence, choice and control.
