We carried out an unannounced inspection of the Providence and Moira House, child and adolescent mental health wards (Camhs) 22nd and 23rd April 2024 and as part of our continuous assessment process again on 23rd and 24th July 2024. These inspections were as a result of concerns regarding risk and to follow up on the findings of the previous inspection.
During our inspection we visited both wards. We gathered information from people using the service and their loved ones, staff and managers, other stakeholders, our own observations, we reviewed a range of documents including care records, and policies and procedures. We looked at 24 quality statements.
During our inspection we found that young people viewed the service positively and all of them felt safe. We observed staff were caring and supportive. The environment had been damaged recently and the provider was able to provide evidence that repairs had already been ordered. There were sufficient staff, and they had received an induction, supervision or appropriate training.
Staff generally felt supported by their managers and felt they could raise concerns. The service had responded to an earlier inspection by increasing safeguarding recording and improving the quality of investigations into incidents.
