Safe
People were protected from the risk of harm and abuse. Policies and procedures and staff training supported this. Staff understood their safeguarding reporting and investigation responsibilities. People seemed comfortable around staff and we observed positive and kind interactions.

Safeguarding
There were effective systems, processes and practices to ensure people were safe from the risk of harm and abuse. Safeguarding policies and procedures were in place to protect people from abuse and avoidable harm.
People we spoke with told us they felt safe and were happy with the staff. A relative told us, “Absolutely. They’re very attentive.” Relatives also told us they felt comfortable about raising concerns as staff were very approachable. One relative said, “I believe, under the new manager the service is safe. With this manager I can raise concerns.” Other comments included, “I do believe my sister is safe and very well looked after.”
People benefited from staff that understood and were confident about using the safeguarding and whistleblowing procedure. Staff were aware of how to keep people safe and had received relevant training on safeguarding. The systems within the service supported this. Leaders understood their responsibilities to keep people safe and told us how they put this into practice.
