Caring
People were treated with kindness by staff who knew them well and supported them to maintain their dignity. Staff understood people and responded to their individual needs. The provider demonstrated appreciation of their staff.

Independence, choice and control
People were supported by staff who were kind and responsive. Staff knew people well and were skilled to recognise if people were becoming anxious and able to support them in a dignified way to reassure and distract them.
People were supported to make daily choices, for example, the provider implemented a pictorial menu to enable people to make choices about what they wanted to eat. Staff promoted people’s choice and control by encouraging people and respecting the decisions they made.
We saw kind, caring and respectful interactions between staff and the people they supported.
The provider implemented systems which enabled people to make choices and be involved in their day-to-day care.

Workforce wellbeing and enablement
The provider acknowledged employee of the month, arranged for gifts to be given on special occasions and supported individual staff career development. Staff felt supported in their roles. One staff member told us, “We have a supportive team and manager.”
The provider implemented initiatives to recognise and reward staff commitment and good practice. The provider had processes in place to ensure staff were involved in the day to day running of the service. We found regular staff meetings took place and staff were encouraged to contribute their thoughts and ideas.
