Our view of the service

Acorn House – Laindon is a residential care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 6 people. The service provides care to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. Our on-site assessment was unannounced on 18 November 2024. We looked at quality statements relating to areas in Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led. For those areas we did not assess, we used the ratings awarded at the last inspection to calculate the overall rating. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgments about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found people were being supported in line with this guidance. There were enough staff who had undergone the appropriate training to support people safely. Staff managed medication safely and understood their roles and responsibilities. Staff had regular supervisions and access to training.

People and relatives were complimentary of the registered manager. People were well supported with their medicines.
