Assessing needs

Score: 3

People told us they had been involved in the assessment of their needs before using the service and when things changed.

The registered manager told us they carried out initial assessments before anyone moved in, to ensure their needs could be met. The service had a communications team who work with individuals to ensure their communication needs were met. Staff told us they received information about people when they moved in. One staff member commented, “When someone new moves in we are given a brief write up and a care plan will be put in place. The write-up just gives us a summary we can read before we go in and if they want to, they can give us a life history, so we know more about their life, and it is good to have that and it is all based on person-centred care.”

Where people’s needs changed, records were updated so staff knew how to support people safely.
