Independence, choice and control

Score: 3

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. People’s care plans were personalised and promoted people’s independence, choice and control. For example, some people told us staff support them to maintain their independence which was important to them and have choices of what meals they have and when they want them. We observed flexible mealtimes which were tailored to people’s individual needs. This enabled people to choose when they would like to get up and what time they had their meals. The service held regular resident meetings, where people had the opportunity to voice any concerns, changes they wish to happen and activities they would like to try. The service provided feedback to people in different communication formats at the following meeting of what had been actioned, which people responded well too.
